Meet our ‘Angels of the Night’ Rachel and her friends!
Rachel and her mother Lynn Bibbee were shopping and found a great bargain on backpacks marked down for clearance. Rachel knew that she wanted to do something special for the kids that were affected by hurricane Katrina and at $1.00 each, Lynn knew that she and her daughter could help out a lot of people in need. In spite of the fact that Lynn had been out of work for awhile, she racked up a credit card and bought 200 of the backpacks!! On September 20th, Rachel got her ‘Angel’ girlfriends together and stuffed all 200 backpacks with necessities they bought to fill the packs. Since they do not live anywhere close to one of the Backpacks Of Hope donation sites, they needed to have the backpacks delivered as no other local charity seemed to be interested in their generosity. The cost of delivery was WAY more than the price of the backpacks and with a tight budget, paying for delivery seemed out of the question. Well that all changed when they called us here at the station. Delilah’s team connected the ‘Angels’ up with another ‘Angel’ that agreed to pay the cost of the shipping. The anonymous ‘Angel’ that paid for the shipping is very close to the Backpacks Of Hope cause and didn’t want to see the over the top efforts of these fabulous girls come crashing to a halt. Nineteen boxes, weighing 727 pounds, filled with stuffed backpacks are on their way to kids in need.
Rachel is only 16 years old yet she is in her second year of college while still finishing high school! Lynn and her husband Richard can be VERY PROUD of their ‘Angel’ Rachel and Rachel’s ‘Angel’ girlfriends… WE SURE ARE PROUD and very happy to make Rachel and her friends our ‘Angels of the Night’!

October 18th UPDATE: "Angels of the night", Rachel Bibbee and her friends, sent over 200 backpacks. Today they were delivered to the children at the Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, Louisiana. There are 185 kids that live there, some abandoned, some orphaned and many who became wards of the state due to delinquency and such. They have not received help from FEMA or anyone, so the backpacks were a HUGE blessing! Thanks to Rachel and her friends for caring beyond boundaries!
