Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
I want to extend a BIG thank you to all the pink ladies in San Diego who
participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. Over 25,000
people showed up and about $1 million were raised for breast cancer education,
research and support. So much love and support circulated thru the crowd and I
felt very blessed to be a part of such a worthy cause.
A Baby Calf Is Born On Delilah's Farm
The votes are in. You, my loyal listeners, have chosen to name my calf — (drum
roll please) — Fernando! It was a close race between all four names with Half
Pint coming in a close second. Fernando pulled away in the end and I'm so
pleased the little guy finally has a name! Now I can start training him to come
when we call for him just as his mom, Gypsy, has learned to recognize her name.
So I officially welcome Fernando the calf as the newest addition to my farm
family, and I thank all of you who voted and sent in your clever name ideas.
Tune into my show for more stories of the farm and more stories from the heart
followed by your favorite love songs.

Tangi and Danny’s Wedding
Congratulations to my daughter, Tangi, who is a newlywed! We had just a few months to plan her summer wedding and everything came together beautifully in the end with the help of hard-working friends, family and neighbors. Take a look at some of the unique flower arrangements we made using mis-matched, borrowed vases and the lovely centerpieces using just a single flower.

A Stroll Through The Farm
In the Quiet of Night
By night, I am the queen of sappy love songs. By late, late night, I am a struggling
artist that loves to paint when it's quiet and I can create. Long after the
children fall asleep, I choose to spend my spare time painting and drawing. It brings
me great pleasure to turn a blank canvas into something beautiful, and I deprive
myself of sleep late at night painting scenes in nature that captivate me. I'm
fortunate I don't have to go very far because much of my inspiration comes from
life on the farm.
The years of painting and studying this art form make me appreciate those with a
most natural talent. It starts with having an eye for dimensions and light, a love
for the surroundings in which you find yourself, and a pride that drives your accomplishments
on canvas. I admire lots of artists; I am currently infatuated with the work of a few. So much so that I want to share their work with you, via their Web
sites.
Does their work capture your imagination, like it does mine?

My Winter Pastime
While many of you were on the edge of your seats watching the Super Bowl, I was edging a painting with real seashells. While you were setting out chips and dip, I was setting out paints and brushes. While you were cheering for the home team, I was cheering at my finished works of art. Super Bowl weekend just happened to be the time when inspiration hit and I finished a few paintings I've been working on this winter. When the cold keeps me indoors, I love to paint! It's one of my favorite pastimes, perfect for the one season that keeps me out of my garden. But as you'll be able to tell in the slideshow, my garden is never a distant thought…

Baby Elijah
I have another grandbaby on the way in 2009! While we await his or her arrival,
I still have five more sweet grandkids to occupy my arms and share cuddles. Here
is a photo of the most recent addition to my family, baby Elijah, who is the son
of my oldest boy, Sonny. Look how he grins at Grandma!
Halloween Party
I host a Halloween party at my house every year, and all I ask is that my guests
bring a potluck dish to share and come in costume. This year, Halloween at the farm
is going to be a little different.
I have created a theme and I've asked my guests to come as a hero or villain. As
you can tell from my photo, I've chosen to be the notorious puppy snatcher from
"101 Dalmations" — Cruella De Vil. I can't wait to see what sort
of interesting costumes my friends produce this year! Some of the little ones knew
who they wanted to be as soon as the announcement was made, and I've gone to work
finding masks and making capes. My grandson Nehemiah is anxiously waiting to reveal
his adorable Superman costume and I couldn't resist this chance to show off his
sweet face!
 Delilah's Garden In Bloom
This is one of the times during the year when I am in awe of God's majesty with colors and nature. My flower beds and gardens are in full bloom, after what seemed like a forever Winter and rainy Spring.
Now, everywhere I turn in my yard I see vibrant colors and beautiful blooms. As if you were with me when I get the chance to walk around my yard and marvel in the beauty, take a moment and let me share the beauty of an Iris, the vibrancy of a rose or the way a Lily looks when it is just at its' peak of perfection.
I hope you are seeing beautiful colors in your yards and your neighborhoods. This is the time of year to soak in the colors with your eyes and appreciate what we have to enjoy in the way of Nature.

 Delilah Returns to Buduburam 2008
I am rarely away from the radio studio and microphone, but when I am, I am most likely visiting Ghana. There's a large part of my heart that resides in that West African country, and specifically, with a group of Liberian refugees living in Budaburam, a camp maintained originally by the United Nations. There's a good group of people there with virtually no means of income or assistance. I give of my time and resources, as do many of my friends and listeners, and try to make a difference year round. I was there in February of this year to witness the impact we make with nutrition programs, installing fresh water for the residents, farming and medical assistance. No matter how much we accomplish, I never leave feeling I have done enough to help and cannot wait to make my next trip there, again, from America.

 Picture Perfect
None of us simply wake up "camera ready." But once in awhile, a day comes along when the sun is shining, you've had a good night's rest... and the hair is fully cooperating. Such was the case this past weekend, and I was musing about just how blessed I am by God when this photo was taken. Normally the camera catches me behind the microphone, or painting a wall, working in my garden, or working on a project with one of my kids. Those photos often reveal me with headphones crowding my face, or with dirt-stained knees in the garden, or with a slight smattering of paint on my cheek. Even so, I am thrilled to capture those special memories, the moments that make life so worthwhile, and share them with you. But when a full night's rest and a "good hair day" happens, one cannot resist sharing those little blessings as well!
