I’m an average citizen, and a nurse who loves life. I’ve been around the military all my life. My hero, my Dad, was in the Navy for 20 years, and my husband is a Firefighter/Paramedic who has also served in the Coast Guard.
Last year, I was searching for a way to send packages to the troops, and came across these websites: givetothetroops.org and asoldierswishlist.org. These are two great websites devoted to helping the troops overseas receive packages from those of us in the United States.
I specifically requested the soldiers that do not receive mail, and I’ve communicated with them via email and regular mail almost every day. You would not believe how much it means to the troops! I have been sending about 30 packages a week to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, etc. It is so rewarding! The soldiers even ask, "What can I send back?” My reply is “Nothing! Just make it home safely.”
